Egypt The court issues its verdict on the artist Jihan AlShamashergi

Khaberni - The Cairo Criminal Court issued a final verdict acquitting the young artist Jihan Al-Shamashergi and four other defendants in the case that sparked widespread controversy in recent days.
The court's decision came after listening to the defense of the defendants and reviewing the case files, where the court saw insufficient evidence and contradictory accounts surrounding the incident, thereby closing one of the cases that recently occupied public opinion in Egypt's artistic community.

The case details go back to an official complaint filed by someone accusing Jihan Al-Shamashergi, along with 4 others, of embezzlement and theft of personal belongings in a dispute whose financial details were unclear initially.

The investigations pointed to a business relationship between the victim, Omaima Mohamed, and the second defendant, Mai Mahmoud, as they were sharing the rental of the apartment, which served as a headquarters for a commercial company between them.

The investigations also revealed that Jihan Al-Shamashergi was renting a room in the apartment to use it for manufacturing accessories, before she left the place in 2023 to dedicate herself to her artistic activity.

According to the investigations, personal disputes arose between the second defendant and the victim, which led the former to go to the apartment with others and take possessions that were inside it, before the situation escalated during the victim's attempt to prevent them from leaving.

During the investigations, Jihan Al-Shamashergi denied her connection with the incident, confirming that she was not a party to the ongoing dispute between the second defendant and the victim.

It is noteworthy that Jihan Al-Shamashergi is a young Egyptian artist who has achieved notable success in recent years with her participation in several prominent drama and cinema productions, and this legal dispute had shocked the artistic community before it was settled by the court today in her favor.
