Khaberni - Data published by the "Carlos III" Health Institute in Madrid shows that at least 212 recorded deaths between Sunday and Wednesday can be linked to the heatwave hitting Spain.
These estimates are based on a system that collects daily mortality figures in Spain and calculates the differences between them and the expected deaths based on historical data.
Thursday is expected to see at least 101 million people in Europe, including more than 50 million in France and 18 million in Germany, experiencing temperatures exceeding 35 degrees, according to calculations by Agence France-Presse.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 30 degrees for more than 380 million people in Europe (excluding Turkey), which represents about two-thirds of the population.
Similar to the previous day, France is the most affected by the heatwave, with temperatures expected to exceed 30 degrees on Thursday in areas inhabited by about 63 million people, while temperatures will exceed 35 degrees in areas with a population of 53 million.
Temperatures are also expected to exceed 30 degrees in areas inhabited by more than 70 million people in Germany, 48 million in Italy, and 38 million in the United Kingdom.
