Khaberni - American President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he directed the U.S. Department of Justice to open an investigation into oil companies on the backdrop of their failure to reduce fuel prices at distribution stations in line with the fall in crude oil prices.
Trump added, in a post on the platform «Truth Social», that «the major oil companies are not reducing their prices at the pumps proportionately with the sharp decline in oil prices they are paying», noting that the prices are «falling very rapidly», as he described.
He continued: «In other words, consumers are being exploited».
He said he issued his directions to the Justice Department to «begin the investigation immediately», adding: «Gasoline prices should start to drop faster than what I'm currently seeing».
