Khaberni - Amman Ahliyya University achieved a notable global achievement by ranking 28th worldwide among 1,603 educational institutions from various countries in the Sustainability Impact Ratings issued by the British Times Higher Education for the year 2026. Last week, it led private universities with outstanding results in the QS World Ranking (643).
The sustainability outcomes represent one of the biggest leaps in the university’s history in this ranking, as it has moved into the top thirty globally, thereby affirming its leadership in serving the Sustainable Development Goals both locally and internationally.
The most outstanding achievement was the university's acquiring the first place in Jordan and the Arab world in the overall evaluation, and the third place globally in “Quality Education,” in addition to advanced results in a number of other goals, notably: 7th globally in “Reducing Inequality,” 11th globally in "Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” and 19th globally in "Partnerships for the Goals."
On this occasion, Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated: "This accomplishment is the fruit of a solid institutional vision we have believed in since the founding of the university, which holds that true excellence is not merely measured by ranking positions but by the impact we make in our community and in the sustainable development journey in Jordan and the region.
He added: "From the very first day, we believed that investing in people and knowledge is the most lasting impact investment, and that the role of the university does not stop at the confines of lecture halls, but extends to serving the nation and addressing the major challenges facing our communities. Entering the top thirty globally is a message that a private Jordanian university is capable of competing with major global universities when will, planning, and organizational work come together."
He said: "While we pride ourselves on this advanced position, we consider it a responsibility before it is an honor; a responsibility that drives us to double the effort, consolidate what has been achieved, and continue supporting every initiative that serves the Sustainable Development Goals and cements the university's position as a beacon of knowledge and giving in Jordan and the Arab world."
Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, the President of the University, said: "We are proud that ‘Quality Education’ leads our achievements, as the university ranked third globally in this classification, which reflects the essence of our academic mission in crafting a quality graduate and responsible citizen.
He added: "This advanced position could not have been achieved without the integration of the academic system in the university, which includes distinguished faculty members, modern curricula, and an educational environment that places the student at the heart of the educational process and equips them with the tools for critical thinking and innovation. Investing in scientific research and our outstanding teaching staff was the main driver behind this progress, as well as aligning our academic programs with the Sustainable Development Goals was an authentic approach, not just a slogan."
Additionally, he mentioned: "As we celebrate these results through various goals, from reducing inequality to partnerships and building strong institutions, we are ongoing in embedding the culture of sustainability in our academic, research, and community programs, and in developing our students' educational experience to enable them to lead change in their communities, thus maintaining the university’s leadership position that it deserves."
