After an incident that shook Egypt The judiciary settles the case of the car Israeli flag

Khaberni - An Egyptian misdemeanour court has sentenced the accused in the car incident, which caused widespread controversy after the Israeli flag appeared stuck on it, to three years in prison and placed him under police surveillance for an equivalent duration.
The verdict was issued in relation to an incident that took place in the Kerdasa area in Giza governorate at the end of last February, following the accused's act of attaching two Israeli flag stickers onto his car's glass, which prompted some citizens to chase him.

The investigations revealed that the accused caused, during his attempt to escape, collisions with several pedestrians, resulting in injuries and damage to two motorcycles and a car.

According to the investigations, the incident resulted in injuring six people after they were hit by the car as it moved through the area, which prompted security forces to intervene, apprehend the accused and refer him to the Public Prosecution to complete the investigations.

The case attracted widespread attention on social media and Egyptian media outlets, not only because of the hit-and-run accident but also due to the circulation of photos and video clips of the car which displayed a sticker bearing the Israeli flag, prompting many to engage with the incident and raise questions about the motives of the accused and the circumstances of the accident.

During the hearing of the case, the accused faced charges of showing off power, terrorizing citizens, causing injuries, and damaging properties, before the court issued its verdict of three years in prison.

The verdict comes within the legal procedures taken by the Egyptian authorities against crimes of violence and the show of power in public places, particularly those that endanger the lives of citizens or damage public and private properties.
