From the Womb of a Nation to the Grave

The current situation of Jabr…
This old popular proverb almost applies to our current reality: “From the Womb of a Nation to the Grave”. From the moment we become aware of life until God takes us to His mercy, not a day goes by without hearing a continuous stream of praise for Jordan and the Jordanians. These accolades undoubtedly instill pride and reflect the prestigious status our country and its Hashemite leadership, along with the generous Jordanian people occupy.

For many decades, officials and leaders from various countries around the world, both men and women, have come onto the international scene. Some we knew when they were just simple employees or limited authority officials, and others were managing private businesses before circumstances changed, and they reached the top leadership positions in their countries. Since then, the same record has remained unchanged.
Praise for Jordan's moderation, and commendation for its wisdom, credibility, and pivotal role in the region.
There is no doubt that this international recognition is positive and a source of pride and esteem for every Jordanian. However, the pressing question today is how long will we be satisfied with just hearing words of praise? And when will we move from the position of receivers to a position of actors, influencers, decision-makers, and equation-makers?

I sat with myself for a long time contemplating this reality and wondered if Jordan could one day transition from an economy based on reliance and dependence solely on aid, to a productive economy capable of creating opportunities and dictating political and economic equations. Can Jordan move from being influenced by events to influencing them and become a major player in shaping the future of the region?

I imagine a day when Amman becomes a destination for international delegations, not to provide aid but to seek partnerships and benefit from Jordanian expertise.
A day when Jordan will be able to receive global delegations and tell them that they have become true partners to us and if they continue this approach, Jordan will continue to support them, stand by them, and share its expertise with them.

What has been mentioned is not an impossible dream nor mere fantasy, but rather a national goal and project that can be achieved if we have real determination and make good use of the Jordanian human resources, possessing a comprehensive economic and political vision based on production, innovation, maximizing resources, and building a strong and sustainable national economy.

Jordan possesses the competencies, energies, and capabilities that qualify it to be more influential and present, but achieving this requires moving from crisis management to opportunity creation, and from short-term thinking to long-term strategic planning.

And the question remains: Do we have the determination to change the course of Jabr (and not Jabr in the branches of sports), or will we continue to circle in the same loop and listen to the same record?

May God protect Jordan, His Majesty the King, the beloved Jordanian people, and perpetuate the blessing of security, stability, and prosperity on our nation.
