Khaberni - The International Maritime Organization affiliated with the United Nations said on Tuesday, that it has begun implementing an evacuation plan for hundreds of ships carrying 11,000 stranded sailors in the Gulf and facilitating their passage through the Strait of Hormuz, after reaching a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States.
According to Reuters, a spokesperson for the organization said "We have now begun communication with the ships to start the evacuation process," without specifying a timeframe.
The Secretary-General of the organization, Arsenio Dominguez, stated in a press release, "This large-scale operation will be carried out in close cooperation with the coastal countries in the region, the United States, and the maritime transport sector," noting that the organization has obtained the necessary security assurances and has carefully verified the availability of safe navigation conditions to support these operations.
