Azerbaijan We will work on operating two weekly flights to and from Jordan in the coming stage

Khaberni - Mazen Al-Qadi, President of the House of Representatives, met with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, where they discussed the prospects for developing the parliamentary bilateral relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan, and ways to enhance economic, investment, and trade cooperation.

Al-Qadi and Asadov confirmed the strength of the Jordanian-Azerbaijani relations, which are under the care and attention of King Abdullah II and President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing that the solid political links and shared visions between the two countries form a solid base for transitioning the bilateral relations to broader levels of strategic cooperation.

They emphasized the importance of building on the achievements made in the past years to enhance the partnership between the two countries in various fields, and to expand the horizons of economic cooperation to serve common interests and enhance the progress and prosperity of the two friendly countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Qadi indicated that his visit to Azerbaijan was to participate in the parliamentary conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Member States’ Councils, noting that the House of Representatives attaches great importance to developing cooperation with the National Assembly of Azerbaijan in a way that enhances bilateral relations and opens up new horizons for cooperation.

He mentioned that there is a real opportunity to move from traditional bilateral cooperation to strategic partnerships based on investment and economic cooperation, especially in the sectors of energy, technology, tourism, cultural exchange, and education, achieving the mutual interests of both friendly countries.

Al-Qadi added that boosting economic cooperation requires steps targeting the increase of trade volume, emphasizing the importance of providing a stable and stimulating legislative environment that ensures the flow of investments.

He affirmed the need to expand cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, transportation, logistic services, and market connectivity, as these contribute to enhancing the position of the countries as regional centers for trade and supply chains, alongside the importance of cooperation in the fields of knowledge economy, technology, and artificial intelligence to build a modern and sustainable economy.

Al-Qadi emphasized the importance of political coordination between the two countries on various regional and international issues, supporting efforts to solidify security and stability in the Middle East, and promoting diplomatic solutions and dialogue as a means to resolve conflicts and achieve international peace.

He said that achieving just and comprehensive peace in the region can only be through a two-state solution that ensures the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state, and emphasized the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, which is carried by His Majesty King Abdullah II, as a safety valve for protecting the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of the holy city and preserving its existing historical and legal status.

Al-Qadi called for the launch of a regular, direct flight line between Jordan and Azerbaijan, affirming that the direct air connection would contribute to increasing tourism movement and facilitate the mobility of businessmen and investors, and would open wider prospects for trade and investment between the two countries.

On his part, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov emphasized his country's commitment to enhancing its relations with Jordan and expanding areas of bilateral cooperation, praising the status that Jordan holds with President Ilham Aliyev, who has strong brotherly relations with King Abdullah II.

Asadov said Azerbaijan views Jordan as an important partner in the region, and is keen on developing joint economic and investment cooperation, pointing out the promising opportunities for establishing joint projects in the sectors of energy, industry, tourism, agriculture, education, and logistic services.

He expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, and also emphasized the importance of expanding tourism and cultural cooperation between the two countries, enhancing the connection between the peoples and opening new prospects for economic and cultural cooperation.

The Azerbaijani Prime Minister confirmed that his country would work on operating two weekly flights between the two countries in the upcoming stage, which would enhance the connection between the peoples and support the movement of tourism, investment, and economic exchange.

He mentioned the importance of boosting cooperation in the fields of technology, innovation, and digital transformation, noting that Azerbaijan increasingly focuses on the knowledge economy and artificial intelligence, and sees great opportunities for cooperation with Jordan in these vital fields.

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation and intensifying parliamentary communication in both countries, in order to elevate Jordanian-Azerbaijani relations to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership and achieve the common interests of the two peoples.

The meeting was attended by the Jordanian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Omar Al-Nahar, the Azerbaijani ambassador to Jordan, Shahin Shaker Abdul Layev, and members of parliament, Nimr Al-Saleihat, Mahmoud Al-Nuaimat, Hussein Kreshan, Adnan Mashouqah, Atallah Al-Huneiti, Mohammad Al-Subaileh, Mohammad Bani Melhem.
