Khaberni - French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced on Tuesday that 40 people, mostly youths, had drowned since June 18 amidst a severe heatwave sweeping through France.
Lecornu said during an emergency meeting about the heatwave, "There is a tragic plague represented by drowning accidents, with the most recent death toll reported to us being 40 cases since June 18, mostly among the youth."
