Khaberni - The national football team delegation returns on Tuesday to its official residence in the city of Portland, after stumbling against its Algerian counterpart with a score of 1-2 in the match held at the San Francisco Bay Area stadium in the United States, during the second round of the group stage in the 2026 World Cup finals.
The team concludes its group stage matches with a game against Argentina at 5:00 AM Jordan time, on Sunday, June 28, at the Dallas stadium.
The match was attended by His Majesty King Abdullah II, HRH Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, and HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, president of the association.
Representing the team in the match were: Yazid Abu Layla, Abdullah Nassib, Hossam Abu Al Zohb (Saleem Obeid), Yazan Al Arab, Ihsan Haddad, Noor Al Rawabdeh, Muhannad Abu Taha (Mohammad Abu Hasheesh), Nizar Al Rashdan, Ali Alwan (Mohammad Abu Zureiq), Musa Al Taamari (Ali Al Azayza), and Mahmoud Murdi (Ouda Al Fakhouri).
The start of the match was strong from both sides, with both teams attempting to score on multiple occasions, before Al Rashdan managed to open the scoring at the 36th minute, ending the first half with the Nashama leading by one goal to nil.
With the start of the second half, the offensive pressure on both goals increased, allowing the opponent to score their two goals, amidst many attempts by the Nashama to equalize the score through clear pressure, but without achieving the desired result.
For his part, the team’s coach, Jamal Salami, during the press conference after the match, expressed his complete satisfaction with the players' performance, pointing out that the result was not fair, and that the Nashama gave their all during the two halves of the match, but the World Cup experience of the Algerian team decided the result in their favor.
