Before the JordanAlgeria match History of Arab encounters in the World Cup

Khaberni - The 2026 World Cup opens a new door for matches between Arab national teams, and this time the encounter will be between Jordan and Algeria.

The 2026 World Cup features an unprecedented Arab presence with 8 national teams, including Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria from Africa, in addition to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, and Jordan from the Asian continent.

The draw placed the Algerian and Jordanian teams in Group 10 alongside Argentina and Austria, making this match the first confirmed Arab encounter in this edition.

The first all-Arab encounter in the World Cup was between Saudi Arabia and Morocco in the group stage of the 1994 edition, ending with a 2-1 victory for "Al-Akhdar".

In the 2006 World Cup, the Saudi and Tunisian teams met in the group stages, and the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Saudi team was also involved in the third Arab encounter at the World Cup when it won against Egypt in the group stage of the 2018 edition.

In the upcoming match, both Algeria and Jordan aim to overcome their initial setbacks, which saw the "Desert Warriors" lose to Argentina 0-3, and Austria defeat "Al-Nashama" 3-1.
