Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, stated that the Arab countries have affirmed their support for the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran and the necessity of the success of the negotiations that have commenced, appreciating the efforts made by Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia to reach it.
Al-Safadi added during a joint press conference with Abdul Latif Al-Zayani, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit, following the conclusion of the Arab consultative meeting and the meeting of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level in its resumed ordinary session 165 in Amman, that the discussions during the meetings focused on supporting the efforts aimed at successful negotiations and achieving a comprehensive solution that addresses the causes of previous tensions, ensuring the security of Arab states and their sovereignty, and non-interference in their affairs.
He emphasized that the Arab countries were not party to the war nor did they wish for it to erupt, noting that they have always desired good relations with Iran, but achieving these relations requires addressing the causes of previous tensions, primarily non-interference in the affairs of Arab states.
Al-Safadi stressed that what the Arab countries want is to stop the interventions and respect the sovereignty of Arab states, and to operate on principles that ensure respect for international law and the principles of good neighborliness and non-interference in internal matters.
He noted that these issues need to be discussed, and that achieving security, stability, and good relations requires addressing the causes of the tensions in a practical, clear manner and based on international law.
