Houssem Aouar, like other Algerian national team stars, appeared very upset when asked if he and his teammates were aware of the level of anger among the fans, since the three-goal loss to Argentina, which was accompanied by «anger-provoking actions» according to the former international Antar Yahia.
The Saudi Al-Ittihad midfielder got into a verbal altercation with one of the Algerian journalists on the occasion of his statements before the last training of the Algerian national team before the match against Jordan.
Aouar refused to exaggerate the loss against Argentina, even though the question was about the style of play and not about the score itself, saying: "When we lose any match we all get angry, we do not think about what happened before, we return to the Argentina match to study what must be reviewed only".
He entered into a direct confrontation with one of the attendees, when the latter insisted that the Algerians' anger was linked to the performance and not to the result.
Aouar responded to that with a look of disdain, saying: "Let me finish, let me finish, I said that we are not satisfied with our level, we want to win".
The Algerian team will play its second match of the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday morning against its Jordanian counterpart, looking for its first win in the current tournament.
