AlSafadi Arab Support for the USIran Agreement and the Palestinian Issue Tops Amman Talks

Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Al-Safadi, confirmed that the consultative meeting of the Arab foreign ministers held in Amman aimed to reinforce the joint Arab action in facing the increasing challenges in the Arab region.

During a joint press conference with Bahrain Foreign Minister Abdul Latif Al Zayani and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Al-Safadi said that the meeting witnessed extensive dialogue that reflects a shared Arab understanding of the seriousness of the current challenges, along with a collective will to develop tools for joint Arab action to address these challenges.

He noted that the Arab ministers welcomed the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran, affirming their support to proceed in the ongoing negotiations towards a comprehensive solution addressing the causes of tension that the region experienced during the past period.

Al-Safadi emphasized that the Arab countries aspire to a region that enjoys security and stability, confirming the necessity to respect the sovereignty of Arab states and rejecting any interference in their internal affairs or compromising their security.

He added that the ministers also discussed the previous Iranian aggressions against the Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan, stressing the importance of preventing their recurrence and working to address the causes of tension to ensure the region's future stability.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, Al-Safadi explained that the Palestinian issue topped the agenda of the meeting, amid the increasing risks resulting from Israeli policies, including settlement expansion, land confiscation, and ongoing violations in Jerusalem.

He affirmed that these measures undermine the chances of achieving a fair and comprehensive peace and destroy the two-state solution, reaffirming the Arab states' support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
