Messi takes the lead as the alltime top scorer in the World Cup with 17 goals

Khaberni - Argentine star Lionel Messi tops the list of all-time World Cup scorers after increasing his total to 17 goals, surpassing the previous record held by German Miroslav Klose, who has 16 goals.

Messi's historic seventeenth goal came against the Austrian national team during the match between Argentina and Austria held on Monday in the second round of Group Ten of the 2026 World Cup finals.

The Argentine national team captain has become the all-time top scorer of the World Cup, further enhancing his exceptional record in the tournament that he is participating in for the sixth time, and continuing to break records in the biggest global football event.
