Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Al-Safadi said on Monday that the consultative meeting allowed for a clear and frank discussion regarding all the challenges shaking the Arab states and the joint Arab action.
Al-Safadi added, during a speech at a meeting of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level in its resumed ordinary session 165, hosted by the capital Amman, that enhancing joint Arab action represents the way to confront the challenges facing the region, starting with ensuring the success of efforts aimed at restoring security and stability, and progressing in implementing the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran on bases that ensure all causes of previous tension are addressed and protect the Arab states, especially the Gulf states.
He pointed out that the Palestinian issue remains the fundamental and central issue, amid dangers represented by the ongoing inhumane suffering in the Gaza Strip, non-legitimate Israeli actions aimed at annexing the occupied Palestinian territories, expanding settlements, escalating settler terrorism, and assaults on Islamic and Christian holy sites.
He emphasized that these dangerous actions require joint Arab action to confront them and protect the right of peoples in the region to live in security and peace, stressing that peace will not be achieved unless the Palestinian people obtain their right to establish their independent and sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, to live in security and peace alongside Israel.
Al-Safadi also affirmed full solidarity with Lebanon in facing the assaults on its territory, emphasizing the need to adhere to the ceasefire, and support the Lebanese government in its efforts to impose its sovereignty over all its territory.
He continued: "We support Syria in the reconstruction process on a basis that supports the unity of the country and its sovereignty and meets the right of the Syrian people to live in security and peace" in a fully sovereign state.
