Moroccan Star Plans to Retire to Become Mosque Imam

Khaberni  - Moroccan international Nasseer Mazraoui, player for Manchester United, sparked widespread interaction after he spoke about his consideration to retire from football following the end of World Cup 2026, to dedicate himself to achieve a personal goal of memorizing the Holy Quran and working as an Imam in a mosque in the future.

Mazraoui's statements came after his participation with the Moroccan national team in the 2026 World Cup currently being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where he said in statements reported by the Spanish newspaper "AS": "I might decide to retire after the World Cup, life is short, I want to memorize the Holy Quran and become an Imam in a mosque one day."

During his time playing with Bayern Munich, Mazraoui spoke on social media about his desire to memorize the Holy Quran, explaining that he made this decision after feeling inadequate during prayers due to knowing only a limited number of short surahs.

The player then said that he sought help from a sheikh named Ayoub to assist him in memorizing and perfecting the Quran, alongside understanding its meanings and making it a part of his daily life.

He added in previous statements: "My goal, God willing, is to become a memorizer of the Quran, and then understand the Quran and integrate it into my life, and I also want to share this knowledge with the people close to me, and ultimately I want to become an Imam."
