Salami Ready to face Algeria and aiming for a positive result

Khaberni - The technical director of the national football team, Jamal Salami, stated Sunday night - Monday that the match between Jordan and Algeria is strong, indicating that the team is striving to achieve a positive result.

Salami added during a press conference dedicated to Jordan's matchup against Algeria that the lack of experience from Al-Nashama against Austria decided the match and the initial awe has become a thing of the past.

Salami affirmed that the match against Algeria is pivotal and the winner has better odds to qualify.

Salami confirmed the team’s readiness to face Algeria.

In his talk about the Algeria match, he said that the awe of the encounter and the tension among some players, along with the lack of offensive effectiveness, led to not achieving a positive result against Austria.

Salami pointed out that the matchup with Algeria is strong and the national team possesses points that could be exploited against Algeria.

"We hope to be more effective offensively and more solid defensively," according to Salami

Salami continued: "We learned a lot against Austria. The match with Algeria is strong and we hope to show our strength against them."

He continued: "We will face Algeria with confidence, and after their defeat against Argentina, they won't be fully ready."

Salami stated that Al-Nashama is in great morale and discussed playing against Austria, saying they only excelled in set-pieces.

He added that Al-Nashama possess the necessary traits to face Algeria and achieve a positive result.

Meanwhile, the national team player Yazan Al-Arab stated during the conference that the team will be on time against Algeria and highly focused.

Al-Arab clarified that the result against Austria does not reflect what was presented by Al-Nashama and there is still a lot to offer in the World Cup.

The conference is part of the national team's preparations to participate in the second round of Group 10 in the 2026 World Cup finals.

The conference takes place in the press conference hall of the San Francisco Bay Arena, which will host the anticipated match between the two teams.

The press conference is followed by the official training of Al-Nashama at 8:00 PM Sunday San Francisco time (6:00 AM Monday Jordan time) at San Jose Park, where the first 15 minutes of the training session will be available to the media for coverage and interviews.

The national team continues its technical and physical preparations for the scheduled match at 6:00 AM Tuesday, June 23 Jordan time, at the San Francisco Bay Arena in the United States, as part of the second round of the group stage.

Al-Nashama conducted their training on Friday at the University of Portland field under the leadership of coach Jamal Salami, with all players participating, in the presence of the media.

The delegation of the national team left for the city of San Francisco in preparation for the upcoming match against the Algerian team.

The squad of Al-Nashama participating in the World Cup includes 26 players: Yazeed Abu Layla, Abdullah Al-Fakhouri, Nour Bani Atiyeh, Abdullah Naseeb, Saad Al-Rousan, Yazan Al-Arab, Saleem Obeid, Mohammed Abu Al-Nadi, Hossam Abu Zuhair, Ihsan Haddad, Anas Badawi, Mohannad Abu Taha, Mohammad Abu Hashish, Mohammad Abu Goush, Nour Al-Rawabdeh, Nizar Al-Rashdan, Ibrahim Saadeh, Rajaee Ayed, Amer Jamous, Mohammad Al-Daoud, Mahmoud Murdi, Auda Al-Fakhouri, Musa Al-Tamari, Mohammad Abu Zreiq, Ali Azayzeh, Ali Alwan.

The national team participates in Group 10 alongside the teams from Argentina, Algeria, and Austria.

The national team started its journey in the World Cup with a 1-3 loss against Austria, while Argentina defeated Algeria 3-0. Al-Nashama will wrap up their group stage journey with a match against Argentina at 5:00 AM Sunday, June 28 Jordan time, at Dallas Stadium.
