Khaberni - In a historic confrontation, a goalless draw (0-0) settled the match between Belgium and Iran in the second round of the competitions of Group Seven of the 2026 World Cup at the Los Angeles Stadium.
Each team raised its points to two after they also drew in the opening round, leaving the qualification accounts open before the final round.
The match witnessed a relative offensive superiority for the Belgian team, yet the Iranian goalkeeper Ali Reza Biravan was strikingly brilliant, as he parried several dangerous opportunities the most notable of which were attempts by Kevin De Bruyne and De Kuyper in the ninth minute, and then successfully intervened against a dangerous cross from Thomas Meunier.
The Iranian team nearly snatched a lead through Mehdi Taremi in the 25th minute, but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) canceled the goal after review, ending the match in a goalless draw.
