Senator Close to Trump If the Deal Fails We Will Destroy Iran and Control Hormuz

Khaberni - Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, close to President Donald Trump, said he spent four and a half hours with Trump on Friday, revealing his expectations of what the next phase might witness in case of failure to reach an agreement with Iran.

Graham explained that he believes if the proposed deal fails, President Trump will move to impose American control over the Strait of Hormuz by force.

He added that the United States would manage the strait and impose fees on passing ships to fund the operation, in his assessment.

He also mentioned that the Trump administration would work by the year 2026 to expand the Abraham Accords, seeking to include the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in them.

Graham continued saying that if Iran tries to challenge the American control over the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would "destroy it," according to his expression.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important waterways, through which a large portion of global oil and gas exports pass. Iran has repeatedly threatened to close it during times of tension, while the United States and its allies emphasize the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation through it.

The Abraham Accords, launched in 2020, provide a framework for normalizing relations between Israel and several Arab countries, and Washington has been seeking for years to expand their scope to include other countries in the region.
