Khaberni - The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Al-Semen, on Sunday inspected several vital and strategic road projects in the provinces of the Northern Region, which included the Al-Ramtha-Jaber Road and the Irbid Circular Road, as part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to develop the road network and enhance its logistic and developmental efficiency.
During the field tour, Abu Al-Semen reviewed the updating works on the Al-Ramtha-Jaber road, which extends from Jabir signal in Al-Ramtha to its meeting point with the Zarqa/Mafraq road, with a total length of twenty kilometers. Maintenance and expansion works have been completed for part of the road covering three kilometers and one hundred meters, starting from Jabir signal towards Mafraq to make the road width nine and thirteen meters.
The works included preparing traffic safety elements such as paints and ground reflectors, with plans to start soon on implementing solar-powered lighting for a part of the road approximately eight kilometers long. These activities are part of a central tender for maintaining asphalt mixtures and implementing road safety and protection of water facilities and rainwater drainage on the main roads in the Northern Region at a total cost of six hundred thousand dinars, while the minister affirmed that maintenance and expansion works for the rest of the road will continue in the coming years, given that the project is a top priority for the ministry.
The Minister of Public Works followed the progress of work on the third part of the Irbid Circular Road project, specifically tenders for executing the earthworks, which are divided into two parts; the completion rate in the first part reached ninety-two percent, and it is expected to be completed by the 1st of August this year.
This part includes the construction of an overhead bridge with a length of fifty-eight meters on the Ketm road and the earthworks along approximately four kilometers, in addition to the expansion of Ketm Al-Hisn street by five hundred meters. Meanwhile, the completion percentage in the second part of the project reached 15% and includes the execution of an underpass tunnel on Shatna road with a length of one hundred and five meters, along with the execution and completion of earthworks along one kilometer and three hundred and forty meters, where the full completion of this part is expected by the end of this year, emphasizing the strategic importance of completing this arterial route to connect the north of the kingdom with its center and south and alleviate traffic congestion within the city of Irbid and serve the commercial and agricultural movement in the region.
