Israel Fining Ben Gvir 35000 Shekels and Mandating the Removal of a Video The Steadfast Fleet

Khaberni - The Supreme Court in Jerusalem obliged the Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir to pay a fine of 35,000 shekels (USD 11,837), and to delete a video of the detention of activists from "The Steadfast Fleet".

This decision came after the court reviewed a legal petition filed by the "Integrity in Governance Movement" against Ben Gvir, where the movement accused him of exploiting this video clip in the context of illegal electoral propaganda, through the use of public property and published scenes for political purposes, which is considered a violation of Article 12 of the Israeli Election Law.

The aforementioned video, published on May 20, 2026, documented controversial scenes of Ben Gvir as he walked among the detained activists from The Steadfast Fleet, who were handcuffed and kneeling on the ground in the port of Ashdod, where the minister was waving the Israeli flag and addressing provocative words to the activists.

This video triggered a wide international outcry, where many countries, including Spain, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Belgium, summoned Israeli ambassadors and representatives to present formal protests.

In the same context, Amnesty International described the video as "a shameful and inhumane act," while both Italy and France announced official investigations against Minister Ben Gvir, with France accusing him of committing "torture and war crimes" against French activists participating in the fleet which was aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and breaking the imposed blockade.
