Does the brain confuse thirst with hunger Simple steps to break the emotional eating cycle

Khaberni - At certain moments, a person may feel a sudden and strong urge to eat, even without real hunger. This condition, known as "food cravings" can affect lifestyle and health if it recurs frequently. However, nutrition experts confirm that controlling it is possible through a set of simple daily habits.

According to specialists, understanding the real reason behind the urge to eat is the first step to curbing it, as it is not always linked to physical hunger, but can be related to stress, boredom, or lack of sleep.

British nutritionist Sophie Middleton explains that maintaining regular meals throughout the day helps greatly in reducing cravings, as when the body receives balanced food at fixed times, it reduces signals of sudden hunger.

Middleton also advises increasing the intake of protein and fiber, such as eggs, legumes, and vegetables, as they provide a longer feeling of fullness and reduce the desire for quick sugars. She points out that drinking water also plays an important role, as sometimes the brain may confuse thirst with hunger.

An important piece of advice from experts is to avoid severe deprivation of favorite foods, as this can lead to counterproductive results and increase cravings later on. Instead, it is preferable to consume them in moderation as part of a balanced diet.

Experts conclude that controlling a strong desire for food does not depend solely on willpower, but on understanding the body's behavior and smartly and sustainably adjusting daily habits.
