Khaberni - Australian Agriculture Minister Julie Collins confirmed the discovery of the first case of bird flu of the strain «H5N1» in a region in the south of the country.
Collins mentioned that tests confirmed the infection in a bird, which was found on a beach about 700 kilometers south-east of Perth, the capital of Western Australia.
The authorities had announced on Friday that tests proved that the migratory seabird, found in Cape Le Grand National Park in the state, was infected with avian influenza.
