Agriculture Clarifies Reality of Cattle Shipment Rejected by Iraq Not for the Jordanian Market

Khaberni - The Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture issued a clarification regarding what was circulated in some media outlets about the Iraqi authorities' rejection of a shipment of calves coming from Jordan for health reasons.

The ministry confirmed that the mentioned shipment consists of calves imported from Colombia, which entered Jordanian territory under a transit system and were not intended for the local Jordanian market.

The ministry clarified that the shipment obtained a transit permit in accordance with the current legislation and instructions, and met all the conditions and procedures approved for this type of shipment.

The ministry emphasized that, according to the terms and instructions of the transit permit, the shipment will not be allowed back into Jordanian territory, confirming the ongoing monitoring of the veterinary situation of local shipments and transit shipments to protect animal health and safeguard animal resources in the Kingdom.

The ministry assured that the surveillance and veterinary procedures in place aim to ensure the highest levels of health safety and prevent any risks that may affect the Jordanian animal sector.
