Egypt A Strict Decision from The Supreme Council for Media in the Abdel Aziz Mkhyoun Crisis

Khaberni - The Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt issued a decision to ban the appearance of media personality Mohamed El-Gheity on any media outlet for one month, following professional violations committed by his program "The Imprint," which included addressing the private life and violating the privacy of the late artist Abdel Aziz Mkhyoun.

The decision came after a recommendation from the council's Complaints Committee, chaired by media personality Essam El-Amir, following the study of the complaint submitted by the Actors' Syndicate, and the review of a report by the General Administration for Media Monitoring concerning the controversial episode broadcast on June 10th.

The investigations confirmed that the program committed severe professional violations, prompting the council to take deterrent measures, aiming to ensure compliance with media standards and codes, and to prevent such oversteps, even after the program management later deleted the episode.

In a related context, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation received an official letter from the Actors’ Syndicate, in which it expressed its appreciation for the decisive decisions taken by the council in dealing with the complaint, indicating a clear determination to respect the status of Egyptian artistic and cultural icons.

The syndicate praised the council's role in applying professional controls and protecting the moral and intellectual rights of artists, pointing out the importance of continuing this role to achieve a balance between freedom of expression and media responsibility.

The syndicate also affirmed in its statement its pride in the ongoing cooperation and coordination with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, which contributes to supporting the issues of the artistic community and enhancing respect for professional values, and maintaining Egypt's soft power.
