Scotland Turns to Reinforced Concrete in World Cup Battle Against Morocco

Khaberni - The Moroccan national team will face its Scottish counterpart early Saturday in the second round of the Group Three competitions at the 2026 World Cup.

In the opening round, the Moroccan team drew with Brazil with a score of one each, where Ismail Sibari scored the leading goal before Vinicius equalized the score.

The "Atlas Lions" are in second place in their group with a single point, two points behind the leader, the Scottish team, which defeated Haiti with a goal unanswered in its first appearance.

The European team plans to rely on a defensive playstyle focused on closing avenues and reducing spaces against the Moroccan team.

According to Scottish media sources, coach Steve Clarke plans to shift the gameplay to a 3-4-2-1 formation after having played the first match in a 4-4-2 system.

The former assistant coach of Aston Villa had adopted this method during the match where they won against Spain with a score of 2-0 in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

The Scottish team's lineup includes a selection of the most prominent stars from the English and Italian leagues, led by Andrew Robertson, the left-back from Liverpool.

The two teams met once before, specifically during the 1998 World Cup finals, which were held in France.

The "Atlas Lions" triumphed with a score of 3-0, thanks to goals from Salaheddine Bassir (2) and Abdeljalil Hadda, known as Camacho.

Despite strong performances in the tournament, the Moroccan team failed to qualify for the second round after finishing the group stage with 4 points, trailing Norway by a point for the second place and two points behind Brazil, the group leader.
