Khaberni - Alexandria University is following up on what has been circulated around allegations concerning Al-Shatby Hospital, announcing an urgent investigation with the affirmation of full commitment to patient dignity, rights, and accountability for any proven misconduct.
Alexandria University in Egypt stated that it is seriously following what has been circulated in recent hours on social media platforms, regarding posts that included claims and testimonies related to incidents and practices attributed to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Al-Shatby University Hospital, confirming that all published material is subject to examination and investigation according to the legal procedures established within the university.
The university, in an official statement, affirmed that patient dignity, safety, and respect for professional ethics are steadfast principles that cannot be compromised, noting that the right to file complaints is guaranteed for everyone, and that it does not delay the examination of any report involving specific incidents supported by documents or evidence that allows verification, in preparation for taking necessary actions according to applicable laws and regulations.
The statement clarified that what has been circulated is currently being examined by the competent authorities at the Faculty of Medicine, as part of the procedures followed in such cases, to ensure precise verification of the facts and determine responsibilities with complete neutrality and transparency, emphasizing that any violation proven to have occurred will be dealt with decisively and without any exception or cover-up.
The university indicated its willingness to receive any complaints or documented testimonies through official and approved channels, which ensures data confidentiality and the protection of those who provide them, including the unified hotline of the Ministry of Health (105), the unified government complaints system (16528), in addition to the electronic portal (shakwa.eg), and the official channels of Alexandria University.
It stressed that all reports and exchanges are dealt with according to the available documents and evidence, ensuring full access to the facts without fragmenting or pre-judging the ongoing investigations.
The university invited everyone to exercise caution and not to issue premature judgments before the conclusion of the examination and investigation processes, preserving the rights of patients and medical service providers equally, and avoiding generalizing accusations that may affect medical and nursing staff working within the university hospitals.
