Khaberni - A well-informed source stated that the cabinet's decision to appoint Dr. Hazem Al-Rahahleh as the General Director of the Social Security Corporation comes in light of the upcoming phase which requires extensive preparations to keep up with the anticipated amendments to the social security law, and the resulting new systems, instructions, and regulatory and operational procedures.
The source explained to Khaberni that Al-Rahahleh has extensive experience in the social security sector and was among the key contributors to discussions on developing legislation and amendments related to the law, offering expert views and opinions on governance, transparency, insurance reforms, and financial sustainability over the past years.
The source added that the government views the upcoming phase as a crucial implementation period that requires technical and administrative expertise capable of leading the institution through the process of updating the regulatory and operational environment, alongside enhancing cooperation with research and international institutions specialized in social security reforms.
The source mentioned that Al-Rahahleh has over eight years of experience within the institution, and served as its General Director during the COVID-19 pandemic, which posed an exceptional challenge for the kingdom and the business sector. During that period, the institution played a significant role in supporting companies and maintaining national employment through programs and initiatives that enhanced labor market flexibility and reduced financial burdens on establishments.
The source indicated that the current staff of the institution are highly efficient and will provide support to the new management. Additionally, the administrative change also comes as the former General Director approaches retirement age after over 35 years of service, during which he led the institution and contributed to the preparation of the new social security law project.
