A 380 phone achieves what Apple and Samsung couldnt

Khaberni - In a time when smartphone companies are racing to develop artificial intelligence features and cameras, a startup has succeeded in presenting an innovative solution to one of the oldest problems in the world of smartphones: battery depletion.

RugOne brand, owned by Ulefone, revealed their new phone RugOne Xever 8, which introduces a new concept for swappable batteries, allowing the user to change the battery without turning off the phone.

A battery that can be replaced while the phone is still working
The most outstanding feature of the phone is called Swappable Battery 2.0, which is an advancement of the idea of removable batteries, which have almost disappeared from modern phones, according to a report published by "phonearena".

Unlike traditional phones that turn off immediately when the battery is removed, Xever 8 can continue to operate for up to two minutes during the battery replacement. During this period, the user can continue browsing the internet, making calls, and reading messages without interruption.

After those two minutes, the phone enters a safety mode for 60 seconds to ensure data protection in case the new battery is not installed.

The phone comes with two batteries, each with a capacity of 4800 milliampere hours, which provides the user the ability to operate the device for long periods without waiting for charging.

Features aimed at rugged phones
The phone's capabilities are not limited to the battery alone, as it falls into the category of rugged phones (Rugged Phones) designed for use in harsh environments.

The phone includes a dual sound system named SonicX Super Speaker by the company, which they claim can produce a sound up to 117 decibels, with the ability to increase the volume by 2.6 times in emergency mode.

It also includes a set of practical tools such as:

- Underwater photography.

- Digital compass.

- Barometric pressure gauge.

- Noise level meter.

- Built-in flashlight with a strength of 230 lumens.

Possibility of communication between RugOne phones via Bluetooth in a Walkie-Talkie style.

Medium technical specifications
The phone comes with a 6.5-inch LCD screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, powered by a MediaTek Helio G200 processor.

The phone is available with two memory options:

- 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage.

- 8 GB RAM with 256 GB storage.

In the photography department, it includes a main camera with a resolution of 64 megapixels, alongside a night vision camera with a resolution of 20 megapixels that allows for capturing photos and videos in almost complete darkness, while the front camera comes with a resolution of 32 megapixels.

The phone also operates on Android 16 with a promise of receiving three years of major updates.

An unexpected weakness
Despite the innovation in battery design, the phone lacks support for 5th generation 5G networks, as it only supports 4G networks.

This is seen as a step back compared to its predecessor Xever 7, which used a more powerful processor and supported 5G networks, which might surprise users who expect new releases to outperform their predecessors in all aspects.

Direct competition with "Samsung"
The phone faces strong competition from the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 Pro, which is one of the most famous rugged phones on the market.

Although the "Samsung" phone comes at a higher price of about $560, it offers a stronger processor and support for 5th generation networks, in addition to a replaceable battery as well.

However, Xever 8 stands out with a lower price of about $380, along with a unique feature not available in most competing phones: the ability to replace the battery without turning off the device.

Does it represent the future of smartphones?
RugOne Xever 8 reflects a different trend from the norm in the phone industry, focusing on solving a practical problem that users have long complained about, instead of just adding new software features.

Although its technical specifications do not make it the best in its category, the idea of "continuous operation during battery replacement" may be one of the most practical innovations that have appeared in the phone market in recent years, and it might prompt major companies like "Apple" and "Samsung" to rethink the concept of replaceable batteries in the future.
