Khaberni - The governor of Aqaba, Ayman Al-Awaisha, confirmed that the black liquid material shown in a video on the back road of the governorate is waste oil that was illegally dumped by one of the tankers.
Al-Awaisha said that an investigation was conducted at the site, and it was found that a tanker had emptied its load of waste oil near the public road, constituting an environmental and traffic violation requiring legal accountability, given the risks it poses to public safety and the environment.
He added that the competent authorities immediately responded upon detecting the incident, where the site was inspected and the nature of the material confirmed in cooperation with the relevant agencies, while the Directorate of Public Works and environmental groups began taking necessary measures to address it.
Al-Awaisha emphasized that the competent authorities will continue to follow up on the case to identify those responsible for this violation and to take strict legal actions against them, affirming that the Aqaba governorate will not tolerate any practices that harm the environment or endanger the lives of citizens and road users, and that the law will apply to everyone found involved in such irresponsible actions.
He explained that the technical teams were able to completely bury the oily spot and take the necessary preventive measures to prevent vehicle slippage and ensure the safety of the citizens, confirming that the situation is now fully under control and poses no further risk after the completion of the remedial work.

The circulated clip shows liquid material emerging from the site, amidst speculations from those sharing it about its nature and possible connection to the presence of oil indicators, while citizens urged the relevant official authorities to verify the accuracy of this information and conduct necessary tests to determine the nature of the circulated material.
