Khaberni - Xiaomi has revealed an innovative charging system that relies on a robotic arm capable of autonomously connecting electric cars to the charger indoors without any intervention from the driver, reflecting a quick integration of artificial intelligence and automation in the automotive world.
The company expects the new technology to be commercially available in the last quarter of 2026, as part of its vision to transform the electric car charging process into a completely smart and seamless experience, according to "interesting engineering".
The new system is designed to work alongside self-parking technologies, allowing the car to automatically park in the designated spot, while the robotic arm recognizes the location of the charging port and connects the cable to start the charging process automatically.
Xiaomi confirmed that the video showcasing the technology was filmed under real usage conditions, not within a closed experimental environment, indicating that the functions displayed are ready for production and close to reaching consumers.
Thus, electric car owners can park their vehicles and leave immediately, while the robot handles all the charging steps without any additional effort.
Complete automatic charging and disconnecting
The system's advantages not only include starting the charging process but also automatically ending it, so when the battery reaches a predetermined charge level or full capacity, the robotic arm automatically disconnects the charging cable and returns it to its place without the need for driver intervention.
Xiaomi also allows full control of the process via a smartphone app, where users can start charging remotely as long as the car is parked within the system's operational range.
