Khaberni - The adventures of the young Yemeni, Basem Al-Qa'qa', known as "Al-Qa'qa' bin Antar", and known among his followers for his daring in climbing heights and risky slopes, turned into a tragic end after his fall into the bottom of "Haradh Damt", a dormant and historic volcanic crater that has become a famous tourist destination in Dhale Governorate in the south of the country.
Video clips shared by activists on social media showed the moment the young man lost his balance and suddenly fell into the deep crater during one of his usual adventures in front of visitors, causing a wave of sadness and shock among Yemenis.
Al-Qa'qa' Antar gained wide fame on social media over the past years, where he used to post video clips documenting his climbing of mountain peaks and rough slopes, including the edge of Haradh Damt volcano, leading many to describe him as Yemen's “Spiderman” due to his daring and engaging in adventures in highly dangerous locations.
Local sources reported that rescue teams and volunteers are facing complex field difficulties due to the rugged geographical nature of the deep crater, amid ongoing attempts to reach the bottom of Haradh and recover his body.
Haradh Damt, located north of Dhale Governorate, is one of the most prominent natural landmarks in the region, a dormant volcanic crater with hot water, featuring rocky terrains with steep slopes making access to some of its parts extremely dangerous, especially in the absence of appropriate protection and security measures.
