British site Iran targeted Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi with rockets and drones

Khaberni - A well-informed source revealed that the Emirati authorities thwarted an attempt last May to target the Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi using rockets and drones, in an incident described as one of the most serious threats targeting one of the most prominent religious landmarks in the UAE.

According to the British site "uknip", quoting a source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the attack included two missiles and five drones, believed to have been launched as part of an operation targeting the mosque located in the capital Abu Dhabi.

The source added that the UAE's air defense systems successfully intercepted all projectiles and aerial targets before reaching the vicinity of the targeted site, without recording any damage or losses.

The source noted that the initial assessments of the specialized Emirati authorities attributed the operation to Iran, while the relevant Emirati authorities have not disclosed the targeting, details of the incident, or its exact timing.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the most prominent religious symbols in the UAE and the Islamic world. It welcomes millions of visitors annually and is regarded as a landmark that embodies the values of tolerance, coexistence, and cultural openness.

Targeting this edifice carries dimensions that go beyond the security aspect, considering its religious and symbolic status.
