Colombian President at the Security Council Israel is a Nazi regime

Khaberni - Colombian President Gustavo Petro compared Israel to "the Nazi regime" in his comments on the genocide carried out by Tel Aviv in the Gaza Strip, which drew condemnation from Israeli officials.

During a speech at a United Nations Security Council meeting, Petro attacked the Israeli occupation, noting that tens of thousands were killed in Gaza.

He pointed out that the Israelis bombarded the people and even children in the sector with rockets, emphasizing that these numbers cannot be hidden, and no political or economic interest can hide this truth.

The Colombian president added, "This is the real common denominator of what I will say here, and that is that we are returning to the Nazi era," as reported by the Hebrew site Walla.

On October 7, 2023, Israel began a genocide in Gaza with American support that lasted two years, leaving about 73,000 martyrs and more than 173,000 injured Palestinians, most of them children and women, and destruction affected 90% of the infrastructure.

Israeli Condemnation

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, in a post on the platform "X", condemned Petro's statements, considering them a stain on the forehead of his great nation, according to him.

He added, "This anti-Semitic systematically diminishes the memory of the Holocaust. He is a communist who destroyed his great country and will soon become a thing of the past," referring to the end of Petro's term, with his country facing presidential elections on June 21st in which he will not run.

In this context, the Israeli delegate to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said on the platform X that "nothing justifies his unacceptable statements," noting that "the United Nations Security Council was not established to be a platform for distorted ideological ideas and to tarnish the memory of the Holocaust," according to his words.

The Colombian president announced in May 2024 that his country would sever diplomatic relations with Israel because it has a government and a president who are committing genocide in Gaza, a step that garnered Israeli condemnation.

Relations between Israel and Colombia have deteriorated since the occupation launched its war on Gaza, with Colombia announcing the recall of its ambassador from Israel less than a month after the outbreak of the operation that Tel Aviv called "Iron Swords."

According to the Israeli site Walla, the left-wing government led by Petro sought to join the case brought by South Africa against Israel in front of the International Criminal Court in The Hague due to the genocide committed against the Palestinians in Gaza.
