Khaberni - Official documents revealed that the head of the Union and Reform Parliamentary Bloc, MP Captain Zuhair Mohammad Al-Khashman, is following up on the file to extend the period for benefiting from the motivational discount on traffic violations, after exchanges of correspondence between the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, and the Greater Amman Municipality.
According to the documents, Al-Khashman addressed a letter to Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan on April 11, 2026, requesting the extension of the period to benefit from the decision to discount 30% on traffic violations, considering the economic and living conditions that prevented a wide segment of citizens from benefiting from the decision during its original duration.
The correspondence revealed that the Greater Amman Municipality, through a letter from the head of the committee Dr. Yusuf Al-Shawarbeh, clarified that the decision regarding the promotional discount was issued by the Cabinet, and the authority to extend it belongs to the Cabinet, the decision-maker.
The documents indicate that Al-Khashman addressed the Prime Minister again on June 1, 2026, emphasizing the necessity of granting citizens an additional appropriate opportunity, to enable them to settle their violations under fairer conditions, especially since the previous period coincided with Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr, school commitments, and rising living costs.
The correspondence confirms that the request for extension is not based on objecting to the discount decision, but on expanding its practical and social impact, so that it does not remain confined to a time period that many citizens were unable to benefit from.
This parliamentary follow-up comes within the framework of pushing the government towards a new decision that considers the citizens' conditions and enhances trust in the government measures with a social dimension, enabling the largest number of people to settle accumulated traffic violations.
