Khaberni - The Tourism Promotion Authority confirmed that the tourism sector has begun to show signs of gradual recovery, supported by a package of government measures and promotional programs implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and partners in the tourism sector, aimed at mitigating the impact of regional challenges on tourism and travel movement.
The Authority stated in a statement on Saturday that these efforts have reflected in the improvement of booking rates and hotel occupancy rates, coinciding with the opening and operation of several new tourism projects, most notably the Dead Sea Corniche tourism project, Crown Petra Hotel, Yarmouk Lodge, and Tell Al-Rumman Hotel.
The Authority added that the Aqaba port recently welcomed the first tourist ship in a while, a step that reflects the return of confidence in marine tourism and enhances Aqaba’s status as a main destination on the regional tourism map.
The Authority mentioned that the "Our Jordan is Heaven" program continues to support domestic tourism through organizing subsidized trips to various touristic, archaeological, and natural sites, which contributes to stimulating the economic movement in the provinces and supporting the sustainability of the tourist establishments.
The Authority pointed out that the kingdom is preparing to launch the summer tourism season through a series of cultural, artistic, and entertainment events, and it is expected that the resumption of low-cost airline flights starting from the first of July will increase the number of tourists, especially from European markets.
The Authority emphasized that, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, it has intensified its presence at the border crossings and main entry points of the kingdom to promote the Jordanian tourism product and introduce the "Ahla bil Jordan" platform, and to provide the necessary facilities and information to visitors to enhance their tourism experience.
