After Controversial Video Egyptian Police Detain Men Who Stormed Womens Carriage in Subway

Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced on Friday the arrest of several individuals involved in the incident of storming the women's dedicated carriage in the Cairo subway, following widespread circulation of a video that sparked the issue.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a post on its Facebook account, "In light of unveiling the circumstances of a video clip circulated on social media, which included a fight between an individual and a woman inside one of the subway carriages designated for women in Cairo," it was evident that the mentioned individual boarded the carriage contrary to general regulations.

It added that the security services assigned to the subway station at Kubri Al Quba received a report today from the administrative security at the station, which is responsible for overseeing the boarding regulations of the subway carriages, about a fight between an individual and a woman inside one of the carriages designated for women, over disagreements concerning the seating priority inside the carriage.

The Ministry reported that it confronted the accused who admitted boarding the mentioned subway carriage along with his cousin's daughter and that during his attempt to sit, the second woman protested his presence in the carriage, which led to a fight between them and their assaults on each other causing abrasions.

It also highlighted the intervention of a number of citizens who happened to be at the station to break up the fight, confirming that legal measures were taken and the public prosecution started investigating the incident.
