Khaberni - The Egyptian government has referred to the House of Representatives a new bill for protecting children's rights that includes strict and unprecedented measures to reduce digital risks faced by younger age groups on the Internet.
Article 20 of the proposed bill imposes a complete ban preventing children from participating in or creating personal accounts, or even just accessing and entering digital platforms and applications that facilitate the use of betting and harmful commercial games online, whether this access is direct or indirect.
In a related context, the legal article imposes clear obligations on digital service providers and platform operators, mandating them to block and remove any advertisements or promotional materials that promote these activities and bets, aiming to create a safe digital environment and prevent children from exposure to content that could harm their psychological or financial well-being.
It is scheduled that the executive regulations of the law, once officially enacted, will define the precise and specific standards for classifying harmful bets and commercial games, in addition to outlining the necessary technical and procedural controls to ensure the prevention of children's access to them through various sites and digital platforms.
