Petra Universitys College of Media Wins First Place in Your Voice Matters Competition

Khaberni - The report "Jordanian Youth and Ballot Boxes" by the College of Media at Petra University won first place in the video category in the "Your Voice Matters" competition, which was organized by the Independent Election Authority at the university campus, with participation from the students of media colleges and youth in youth centers around the kingdom, aimed at bridging the gap between academic knowledge and professional digital skills.
The winning report in the field of data journalism was prepared by the students: Mahmoud Amro, Areeb Al-Nablusi, Shahd Amer, Noor Taffal, Heba Emad, Mohammed Ajour, and Ahmad Bakir, under the supervision of the head of the department of journalism and digital media Dr. Obeida Rababah. The work addressed the reality of youth participation in elections through illustrative graphs and statistics, turning numbers into visual journalistic stories that contribute to enhancing the understanding of political and social issues associated with empowering youth politically.
The college also won second place in the digital campaigns category, supervised by Dr. Rasha Al-Yacoub.
The competition included categories: "digital campaigns", "podcast", and "video", aimed at enabling participants to use modern media tools professionally, in a way that serves national efforts to enhance political engagement of the youth, and create meaningful and influential content.
