Khaberni - In the framework of Amman Arab University's efforts to enhance psychological awareness among its students and to equip them with the necessary skills to face pressures and challenges during their academic and life journeys, the Dean of Student Affairs at Amman Arab University concluded specialized training workshops in pre-counseling for the university students, implemented by the Student Counseling and Training Department in collaboration with the Faculty of Educational and Psychological Sciences.
The workshops, which relied on advanced scientific and practical methods in psychological counseling, emphasized the importance of providing a supportive and stimulating educational environment that contributes to enhancing the mental and social health of students, stemming from the university's firm commitment to enhancing the quality of university life and achieving psychological and social balance for them, which positively reflects on their academic achievement and future excellence. The workshops also addressed the pivotal role of counseling as an integrated preventive and developmental process aimed at enabling students to understand themselves and manage their emotions consciously, developing psychological and social adaptability skills, and enhancing their ability to cope with academic and life pressures, which contributes to building more balanced personalities capable of making sound and responsible decisions.
The training workshops, presented by a group of faculty members from the Faculty of Educational and Psychological Sciences at Amman Arab University, covered several important axes. Prof. Dr. Suhaila Banat and Dr. Samah Al Na'man discussed the conflict management axis, educating students about mechanisms to deal with conflicts in constructive and civilized ways that enhance effective communication skills and maintain positive relationships within and outside the university environment. Dr. Rand Arabiyat presented the behavior modification axis, discussing a range of scientific and practical strategies aimed at modifying negative behaviors and enhancing positive habits among students. In the time management axis, Dr. Ahmad Harahsheh, Dr. Mervat Al Omari, and Dr. Feryal Al-Haj Mahmoud, showcased a number of modern methods and techniques that help students organize their time and achieve a balance between their academic requirements and personal lives, contributing to enhancing their efficiency and productivity. Dr. Banat, Dr. Al Na'man, and university graduate Banan Jaradat discussed the topic of accepting others, emphasizing the importance of embedding values of respect, tolerance, and understanding among individuals from different cultural and social backgrounds, which enhances human bonds and fosters a university environment based on positive coexistence and diversity. These axes collectively formed an integrated system aimed at enhancing the psychological and social health of students and contributing to building balanced personalities capable of facing life's challenges with confidence, competence, and awareness.
At the conclusion of the training workshops, Dr. Mohammad Bin Tarif, Dean of Student Affairs at Amman Arab University, affirmed that psychological counseling represents one of the fundamental axes in supporting students psychologically during their university phase, due to its direct impact on improving mental health, enhancing emotional stability, and raising the level of academic and social performance, stressing the importance of continuing to provide targeted counseling programs that meet the psychological and developmental needs of students.
