Khaberni - The Commissioner for Tourism and Youth Affairs in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Thabit Al-Nabulsi, confirmed that the city of Aqaba is witnessing positive tourism indicators, with the average hotel occupancy rates expected to rise to 80% during the period from May 25 to 30, 2026, reflecting the advanced status of Aqaba as a primary tourism destination attracting visitors from inside and outside the kingdom.
Al-Nabulsi clarified that expectations indicate that the five-star hotel occupancy rates will reach 85%, while four-star hotels are expected to record about 79%, and three-star hotels about 76%, amidst the active tourist movement the city is experiencing during this period.
He added that the average occupancy rates are expected to rise during the Eid al-Adha holiday to about 95%, reflecting the large tourist influx to Aqaba, and the diverse tourist, marine, and recreational components that have made it a preferred destination for visitors and families during seasons and official holidays.
Al-Nabulsi mentioned that the rise in occupancy rates will directly reflect on boosting the economic and commercial movement in the city and supporting various sectors associated with tourism, asserting that the authority continues, in coordination with relevant entities, to implement plans aimed at enhancing the readiness of tourist and service facilities, and improving service levels to ensure a comprehensive and safe tourist experience for visitors during the tourist season and the holidays of Independence Day and Eid al-Adha.
