Khaberni - The head of the Independent Election Commission, Engineer Musa Maaytah, said that the political reform project began with direct guidance from His Majesty King Abdullah II, aimed at establishing pluralism and developing public life.
Maaytah explained during his sponsorship of the "Your Voice Matters" competition, organized by the Commission and the "I Participate" program at Petra University, in the presence of the university president, Dr. Rami Abdel Rahim, and several faculty members, that the competition is one of the awareness activities hosted by the "I Participate" program, affiliated with the commission, aiming to build a generation of Jordanian youth who believe that active participation in public affairs is not a luxury, but a duty of citizenship.
According to a statement from the commission, Maaytah mentioned that the primary tool for such participation is the vote - "an enlightened, responsible, and influential voice," stressing that universities are not just lecture halls, but are places where the features of citizenship are crafted before professional skills, according to a statement issued by the commission this Tuesday.
In turn, the dean of the College of Media at Petra University, Dr. Ali Nejadat, appreciated the efforts of the commission in promoting a culture of political participation, establishing democratic values, and empowering Jordanian youth to express their ideas and opinions consciously and responsibly.
He indicated that the competition represents an advanced civilizational model of partnership between national institutions and Jordanian universities, carrying informative and awareness messages, contributing to building a generation capable of utilizing digital media tools and modern communication.
The competition included a presentation about the competition presented by the partnership project manager Aus Qutaishat, and other presentations from participating universities.
The "Your Voice Matters" competition, a non-curricular national media initiative, targets students of journalism and media faculties, departments, and specializations at Jordanian universities. It aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and digital professionalism, enhancing the role of the youth in democratic participation and active citizenship, transforming media students into influential digital content creators capable of serving their communities and their causes effectively, and boosting their participation in public life and democracy.
