Khaberni - Egyptian artist Mohamed Ramadan revealed the behind-the-scenes of his new cinematic experience in the movie "Lion", stating his utmost dedication to this experience and sacrificing several artistic projects over two years, to present a cinematic work worthy of the Egyptian and Arab audience, and the status of Egyptian cinema.
He explained that he feels a great responsibility as one of the cinema stars who strive to continue the journey of the greats and to maintain the leadership of the Egyptian art, which has been influential in the Arab sentiment for decades, he said.
Mohamed Ramadan said in exclusive statements to "Erem News" that the movie "Lion" is one of the toughest cinematic experiences he has faced, noting his deep attachment to the character he embodies in the film's events.
He pointed out that presenting the character of the black hero or slave, as he described, and ending the era of slavery in Egypt as portrayed in the film, represent a great source of pride for him, due to what the story carries in terms of human and historical dimensions.
Betting on different age groups and massive production
Ramadan also explained that "Lion", despite relying on action and motion scenes that attract the youth, also bets on reaching various age groups, ensuring he presents a fun and impactful experience for all family members, not limited to a specific audience.
The Egyptian artist pointed out that he is not too preoccupied with the production details related to the film's budget or its high costs, but rather focuses on the acting side and his performance within the cinematic story, expressing hope that the film achieves great audience success and revenues, encouraging producers to undertake cinematic experiments with high budgets and advanced production quality, in a step that may reflect increasing ambition within the Egyptian industry towards works of global character, as he expressed.
Mohamed Ramadan confirmed that his complete reading of the cinematic script, beyond the limits of the acting character he presents, alongside the presence of a cinema-loving and dedicated work team, were among the most prominent factors that encouraged him to undertake the experience.
He added that the diversity of artistic elements within the film prompted him to delve deeper into the character and present it with different and sincere feelings, far from the roles he was previously known for, whether in acting or his various musical projects.
Full-time dedication and establishing a rich artistic library of massive films
Ramadan said that the movie "Lion" monopolized his full focus during the preparation and execution period, clarifying that he was fully dedicated to the work and did not participate in any other artistic project simultaneously, in an attempt to present the film in the best possible artistic and visual level.
Mohamed Ramadan discussed the human and historical dimensions the work addresses, confirming that the issue of slavery was one of the harshest and most impactful aspects for him psychologically, especially since the film discusses the suffering of people who paid the price for their color and belonging differences, noting that his impact was not only linked to the character he performs but to the entire historical era and its harshness and social injustice.
On the artistic level, Mohamed Ramadan considered the movie "Lion" as the beginning of a new stage in his cinematic career, explaining that through the film, he aims to establish a different and rich artistic library, relying on massive and well-crafted works in terms of industry and the artistic elements participating in them, noting that the film reflects a state of artistic cohesion, with actors and makers from several Arab countries, which he described as a very special experience.
