Khaberni - The Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Shadi Al-Majali, and the Governor of Aqaba, Ayman Al-Owaisha, inaugurated today, Monday, the rear container road in the city of Aqaba, following the completion of maintenance and rehabilitation works carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, aimed at enhancing the fluidity of the cargo movement and supply chain in accordance with the highest traffic safety standards.
Al-Majali emphasized that the road represents one of the most important operational axes for the economy in Aqaba, being the main link for the movement of goods between the Port of Aqaba and various provinces of the kingdom, making it a fundamental element in the efficiency of supply chains and the continuity of commercial flow.
He added that the development and readiness elevation of this road is a strategic priority within the authority's vision aimed at stimulating investment, which positively reflects in reducing transport time, cutting operational costs, and supporting the efficiency of the infrastructure associated with cargo movement and investment, and enhances Aqaba's competitiveness as a regional logistics center in the area.
In turn, Al-Owaisha confirmed the governorate's commitment to monitoring the infrastructure and services associated with cargo movement and transport sector to ensure the smoothness of traffic movement and elevate public safety levels, pointing out that the road maintenance project was executed in coordination and cooperation with partners and all government entities according to the highest standards of quality and public safety to serve the needs of the city and improve the quality of services provided in Aqaba.
On his part, the Director of Aqaba Governorate Public Works Directorate, engineer Mohammad Al-Kasasbeh, mentioned that the maintenance works included rehabilitating damaged parts of the road and addressing the infrastructure and enhancing traffic safety elements, noting that the Public Works Ministry's personnel worked to complete the project within the set timeframe to ensure the road was reopened to traffic as quickly as possible.
The opening was attended by the Aqaba Police Director, Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Swa'ir, and the Director of Aqaba Traffic Police, Colonel Ahed Al-Sraireh, along with several directors of relevant entities in Aqaba.
