Khaberni - Barcelona, the Spanish league champion in the last two editions, is preparing to bid farewell to its Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, who announced his departure from the club at the end of the current 2025-2026 season.
Lewandowski (37 years old) leaves Barcelona after 4 successful seasons with the Catalan team, during which he contributed to bringing the team back to the podiums, becoming one of the most prominent strikers to have passed through the Catalan team, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo".
Lewandowski received a grand farewell from the fans in Barcelona's match against Real Betis at Camp Nou, during the 37th round of the Spanish league, which was the last "blaugrana" match at their home this season.
Lewandowski's Career with Barcelona
The Polish striker joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022, coming from Bayern Munich during a time when doubts were swirling about the team's ability to compete for titles, as this period came after the spread of the coronavirus and the departure of the historic star Lionel Messi.
Lewandowski had the option to stay with the Bavarian giant, a team that is considered more competitive in Europe than Barcelona, but at the age of 33, he decided to take on the "challenge of reviving a great club that was in a state of disarray," according to the newspaper.
Lewandowski did not hesitate to move to Barcelona in a deal worth 45 million euros (about 48.6 million dollars), significantly contributing to the team's return to the top over his four seasons.
Thanks to his long professional career and commitment, the Polish sniper Lewandowski succeeded in blending with the young players, leading Barcelona to achieve 7 titles, scoring 119 goals and providing 24 assists in 191 matches in all competitions, according to data from the renowned "Transfermarkt" website.
Lewandowski’s Titles with Barcelona in 4 Seasons:
- La Liga 3 times (2022-2023, 2024-2025, 2025-2026).
- Spanish Super Cup 3 times (2023, 2025, 2026).
- Copa del Rey once (2024-2025).
Lewandowski's Personal Stats and a Single Regret
After his four years with Barcelona, Lewandowski has become the club’s 14th all-time top scorer, recently surpassing the tally of Bulgarian Hristo Stoichkov, who scored 117 goals.
Lewandowski has excelled in Clásico matches between Barcelona and Real Madrid, scoring 6 goals in 11 encounters.
Despite his domestic success with Barcelona, Lewandowski has not managed to repeat his Champions League winning feat, previously achieved with Bayern Munich.
In his first season with Barcelona, the Catalan team was eliminated from the prestigious competition in the group stage, then successively by Paris Saint-Germain (Quarterfinals), Inter Milan (Semifinals), and Atlético Madrid (Quarterfinals).
Lewandowski has scored 23 goals for Barcelona in the Champions League, two fewer than both Luis Suárez and Rivaldo, but the Polish player has a better scoring rate than them (0.61 goals per match).
Lewandowski Announces Departure
Lewandowski announced on Saturday that he would leave Barcelona at the end of the current season, after posting a video on his official Instagram account.
Lewandowski captioned the video with "After four years filled with challenges and hard work, it's time to go. I leave feeling that the mission has been completed. Four seasons, three league titles."
He added, "I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my first days. Catalonia is my place on this earth. Thank you to everyone I met during these beautiful four years."
And Lewa concluded, "Barcelona has returned to where it belongs. Long live Barcelona, long live Catalonia."
