The Israeli Government Coalition Proposes a Solution to Dissolve the Knesset and Head to Early Elections

Khaberni - Walid Al-Hawashleh, a Knesset member from the United Arab List, said on Wednesday that there is a consensus within the coalition and the opposition in Israel to head towards early elections, indicating that the government coalition has proposed a solution to dissolve the Knesset in order to control the course of parliamentary procedures and determine the date of the upcoming elections.

Al-Hawashleh explained that there is disagreement within Israel about the election date, where Haredi parties prefer to hold them in September, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aims to conduct them in October.

He added that current opinion polls indicate the opposition's superiority, considering that the Arab community will be the decisive factor in the coming phase if the voting rate among Arabs inside Israel increases.

Al-Hawashleh described Netanyahu's current government as "the worst" in the history of Israel, due to the presence of extremist figures in it, confirming that any alternative government would be less harmful to the Arab community and the Palestinian people.

He pointed out that the United Arab List strives to return to participation in the government coalition as happened in the "change government," considering that this experience achieved accomplishments for the Arab community.

He clarified that the main disagreement between the United Arab List and other Arab parties is the stance on participation in the government, where the United List supports engaging in the coalition to influence decision-making, while other parties prefer to stay in the opposition.

Regarding the situation in the Negev and Be'er Sheva, Al-Hawashleh said that about 380,000 Arabs in the south are living in difficult conditions due to discrimination and home demolitions, pointing to the demolition of about 6,000 homes and the obliteration of entire villages in recent years.
