Khaberni - The Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Arts, Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, in coordination with the Office of International Relations, hosted Professor Dr. Khalil Al Demir, Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Kilis 7 Aralik University, Turkey, as part of the academic and student exchange agreement of the "Erasmus+" program funded by the European Union.
During the visit, Dr. Al Demir delivered a scientific lecture titled "The Arabic Language and the Science of Interpretation," in which he discussed the close relationship between the Arabic language and the sciences of interpretation, asserting that interpretation is a science based on various methods that vary according to the interpreter's perspective, including linguistic, Sufi, thematic, analytical, and juristic interpretations. He also mentioned that the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was the first to interpret the Holy Quran, followed by scholars from the Companions, Followers, and jurists in this field.
Dr. Al Demir explained that understanding the Holy Quran cannot be achieved without the Arabic language, as it is the main tool for the interpreter, including the sciences of vocabulary, grammar, morphology, and rhetoric, confirming that the Arabic sciences formed the basis from which different schools of interpretation emerged over the ages.
On her part, Dr. Nibal Nezal, who introduced the guest during the meeting, pointed out that the science of interpretation has been the core of Arabic language sciences, and that the relationship between them is one of complementarity and interconnection that cannot be separated, reflecting the pivotal role of the Arabic language in understanding and analyzing religious texts.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmad Al Aboushi, Director of the Office of International Relations, Professor Dr. Musa Al Zghoul, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Aladdin Zaki, Head of the Arabic Language Department, along with several faculty and administrative members and university students.
This hosting is part of Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan's commitment to enhancing international academic cooperation and exchanging scientific and cultural expertise with global universities, contributing to the improvement of education quality, refining the skills of students and academics, and expanding the horizons of knowledge and communication between different cultures.
