Khaberni - The Tartous Syrian Port, on Tuesday, received two ships from Romania carrying about 32,000 heads of sheep and calves, as part of the transit movement through Syrian territory towards Jordan.
The first shipment includes 500 calves and 15,000 male sheep, while the second ship carries 16,000 heads of male sheep, according to the "SANA" agency.
Mohanad Kadour, head of the Health and Animal Production Department, stated that the unloading operations were supervised by relevant authorities, including the General Ports Authority, Customs, and Port Administration, with necessary health and veterinary checks performed to ensure the animals' safety before transporting them by land to Jordan.
In his part, Riyadh Joudi, Secretary of Tartous Port Customs, considered that the arrival of the ships reflects the growing transit movement through the port, and the increasing reliance of regional companies on it as a logistical hub, pointing out that this activity contributes to stimulating commercial movement and supporting the national economy.
