Khaberni - A Jordanian doctor sparked widespread interaction after he talked about a story he described as “shocking” that he faced inside his clinic, highlighting what he considered a decline in family supervision and its impact on the behavior of some girls and boys.
The doctor said in a widely circulated post on social media that he received a woman accompanied by her 32-year-old daughter, who was suffering from chronic sore throat, explaining that the surprise came from the mother's conversation during the examination.
According to the doctor's story, the mother said: “I beg you, doctor, advise her.. Every day she stays out with her friends at the Dead Sea and comes back drunk in the morning,” adding that what he understood from the mother's speech was that she was annoyed by the drinking and not by the staying out itself, considering that the people her daughter goes out with are “like her brothers,” as she described.
The doctor considered that the role of parents in supervision is gradually weakening, especially in certain cases of family separation, noting that some families suffer from losing control over the children, and in certain occasions, the children become the ones who control the household expenses and decisions.
He also talked about cases of girls working in marketing and commuting all day, while others spend long hours partying in night clubs until the morning hours, at times telling their families they are staying at their friends.
The doctor's talk prompted a wide discussion among followers regarding the role of the family in monitoring and guidance, the limits of personal freedom, and the impact of family disintegration and lack of supervision on the behavior of some youths and girls.
